[edit] New mission statement ideas
- "Promote environmental sustainability on campus and encourage environmental education among community members"
- Environmental information clearinghouse
- Environmental education
- "Greening the campus" (need synonyms)
- create an environmentally responsible campus (or move towards one)

- Or is this the Sustainability Task Force's job?
- We can work in conjunction with SSTF.
- Why not save the world?
- Why not change ourselves?
- (this comes from a professor who is always stressing that you first need to change on an individual level...I know EcoLogic is a club, but it would be neat if we can help our members and our student body change on an individual level)
- Find ways of revealing to people that they're individual choices can make a huge difference.
- Maybe distribute flyers around campus?

[edit] Ecologic's old "mission statement"
This is what we've been passing off as our mission statement for the past few years:
EcoLogic's mission is two-fold: environmental education and greening the campus. To achieve this mission we created the Greening of Rensselaer Initiatives (GRI). Initially, the GRI was a bold innovative three pronged approach to environmentally sound education and implementation of methodologies. The program has grown from the initial Garden & Greenhouse, Environmental Education Center, and Recycling Program, to encompass a myriad of greening efforts. These currently include Green Purchasing, Water Conservation and extensive community outreach.[1]
Of course, it isn't a true mission statement. The first sentence comes the closest.
[edit] Other mission statements
- "To pool the knowledge, skills, and experience of RPI and the surrounding community to discover and solve environmental, social, and economic problems, recognizing the importance of sustainability." - ESW-RPI
- "Organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful." — Google
