Environmental Education Center (EEC)
From Ecologic
The Environmental Education Center (EEC), located in Sage 2410, is a place where people can go to learn more about environmental issues as well as the club EcoLogic.
We have a list of EEC Open Hours, though we need to work out a schedule. You can call the Environmental Education Center at 519-276-2027. We also maintain a list of all supplies found in the EEC.

[edit] Open Hours
The EEC is open for business at certain times of the week. At these times, anyone from the RPI community can stop by and inquire about all things ecological.
We need Ecologic members to sign up for when they can spend some time in the EEC. It's actually a nice place to get some homework done. For now you'll already need to have a key to the EEC. See the List of EEC Keys for more details.

[edit] Possible Ideas for the Future
- Organizing two large and mysterious file cabinets.
- I went through the newer file cabinet (green) and removed the duplicates and outdated material. -- Jendrd 19:20, 13 April 2008 (EDT)
- Generally tidying up the room:
- Hopefully it can resemble something like this.
- Fixing the EEC Computers?
- (Holden doesn't find the fixing EEC computers to be of particular use, unless there would be some place to donate it.)
- I believe the computers should be donated to somewhere where they can be used, after being fixed. -- Jendrd 19:20, 13 April 2008 (EDT)
- Organizing the EEC Literature.
- Figuring out how to revitalize the Living Machine
- Update the EEC Library page to better reflect the videos, DVDs, and magazines in stock.
- Send the laser print cartridges to a place that will give Ecologic money or at a minimum recycle them somehow.
[edit] History
In the early 90s Ecologic received a grant to begin operating the Environmental Education Center, and we made a deal with H&SS to use that space as the location for the EEC. We were originally in a smaller room down the hall (~2417) and then we moved to 2410. Although the grant money has expired, we are still operating under the award of that grant and we have always been pretty popular with the students, faculty and community members.
Some years ago, a student named Pei-Ping Mo did an Undergraduate Research Project (URP) focused on organizing and promoting the EEC.[1] His results are comprehensive and interesting, and he left a number of documents for us to pick up where he left off. In the future we hope to encourage similar URPs, to better the EEC and the campus at large.
[edit] Future Research
We're interested in researching exactly how the EEC came to be.
If you look in the Archives drawer in the EEC computer desk there should be some information. There may also be some old files on the RPI website that you can find just by searching for anything with Ecologic or Environmental Education Center or EEC in it.
