Plastic Bag Knitting Display

The brainchild of Auralee Morin, this is a demonstration to show that used plastic bags can be put to good use rather than simply be thrown away. By cutting and knitting plastic bags together, knitters can produce bags, hats, and even dresses. The end result: ordinary plastic shopping bags can be used to create remarkably durable, flexible "fabric."

Note: Once concern which people generally have is the level of toxicity, primarily with regard to thermal decomposition of plastics. Linear LDPE (from which plastic bags are made) doesn't leach nearly as readily as many other plastics commonly found in household items(such as the PVC used in making most plastic wraps), so comparatively, toxicity isn't much of an issue unless you plan on lighting your knitted material on fire.
