Terra Cafe Education Initiative

Terra Cafe has an education initiative currently lead by Sam Harrington. Sam is graduating in December, so we're looking for someone who's committed to carrying on this role.

It is important for the Terra Cafe to educate as well as serve delicious food. We will be covering issues including sustainability, nutrition, ecological impact, equity, and welfare. It's really rewarding to hear people striking up conversations about the food they are eating and the environmental and health issues associated with what they eat here at RPI.


Education brainstorming ideas: (please feel free to add to this list!!!)

  • "fortune cookie" factoids (see Terra Facts and add some of your own for next week!)
  • Giant painted plywood tree cutout teepee sign to put outside Sage
  • Facts printed on paper napkins
  • Reusable menus with food relevant facts and environmental costs put inside each week
  • 1/4 page advertising papers scattered on tables in the Union and other dining halls on campus
  • Concerto advertising and food facts
  • Are we allowed to advertise and promote non-sodexho places like the Troy Farmers Market or Honest Weight Food Co-op?
