What's Wrong with Recycling?
From Ecologic
[edit] Areas Lacking Bins
Identify the area and then give a suggestion to what/how many specifically there should be
- Freshman Residence Halls
- there should be more than just one recycling area on the first floor and then paper recycling by the printer
- at least cans/bottles/paper recycling in every floor garbage closet
- JEC
- Bottle Recycling I'm told is only in 1 location for the entire building! This must be increased.
- Greene Building
- Kara mentioned that the only recycling in the whole building is in the basement
- Sarah says that there are paper recycling bins on most floors, but no bottle recycling anywhere!
- Quad II
- I spoke with a resident there and he said that there were bins in the buildings, but they were removed at the beginning of the semester for no known reason.
- Low Building
- Paper and Bottle recycling everywhere! Only a handful on the 3rd floor.
- E-Complex - Hirai
- Anywhere there is an Elmo machine
- Elmo is the company name for the camera device used to project overhead documents to the screen with the projector. Since the machine uses paper, most professors toss out the paper in the nearest bin available, usually a garbage can.
- Dining Halls
- I wrote a comment card in Sage Dining Hall asking why they don't recycle the ketchup bottles and they said that RPI did not supply bins. -- Jendrd 13:18, 12 November 2007 (EST)
[edit] Other issues
- Freshman Residence Halls
- how much do the RAs and LAs push their residents to recycle? i'm pretty sure mine did, but i don't know if this is common practice. if they don't, then this is a problem (but they very well might). -Frank
- I know that right now my RA, LA, and RD say nothing about recycling. It's never been mentioned any of our meetings or anything like that. I'm fairly sure that this is common across the other dorms, as well, since I haven't heard anything from anyone else about it. -Anna
